Tenants – Lease requirement
Renters insurance for Damelecia residents
Your lease requires renters insurance as a condition of occupancy when that clause is in your agreement. Most Damelecia leases do. Here is what the clause means, what a policy covers during Florida storm season, and how to send proof of coverage before move-in.
Any carrier OK
Proof before keys
Liability common $100k
Lemonade optional
Coverage note
Any carrier that meets your lease is fine – Lemonade is optional

What a typical lease asks for
Common lease terms
- Personal liability – commonly $100,000 minimum (confirm your lease).
- Personal property – enough to replace your belongings, not the building.
- Interested party – the owner or Damelecia, Inc. listed so we are notified if coverage lapses.
- Proof – a declarations page or certificate dated on or before lease start.
Getting covered
- Pull the liability limit and interested-party wording from your lease.
- Quote coverage and set a personal-property amount that would actually replace your belongings.
- Email the declarations PDF to info@damelecia.com with your unit address in the subject line.
- We confirm receipt before keys are released.
Read your own lease before you buy – required limits and the exact name to list as interested party are written into it. If you cannot find the clause, email info@damelecia.com.
Coverage basics
What the policy is buying you
Personal property
Furniture, electronics, clothing, and similar belongings.
Personal liability
Accidental injury or damage claims the lease is really after.
Loss of use
Help with hotel or added living costs if a covered event makes the unit uninhabitable.
Storms, wind, and water: A standard renters policy generally covers wind damage to your belongings, fire, theft, and water from inside the building (for example a burst supply line). Flood, rising water, and storm surge are usually excluded and need separate flood coverage. The building structure is the owner’s insurance, never yours. Buy coverage before a storm is named. Once a system is in the forecast cone, carriers commonly suspend binding new coverage until it passes.
